Light it Up Blue for Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month. We are a few days in but it is never too late to observe and spread awareness of a worthy cause. The call of Autism Awareness Month is to educate our communities about Autism and Light it up BLUE! That could mean sporting blue clothing in support or it could mean wearing blue nails like TV and radio personality,Ms.Kitty did on Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, in support of autism awareness.

Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a range of neurodevelopment disorders that is characterized by impairments in social interaction ,communication and restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behaviour.

A child with autism can appear to be developing normally and then withdraw and become uninterested in social engagement. From as early as infancy, a baby with ASD may be unresponsive to people or focus intently on one item to the exclusion of others for a long period of time. Many children with autism engage in repetitive movements such as rocking or spinning their bodies,or in self-abusive behavior such as biting or banging their heads. They also tend to start speaking later than other children.
Some early signs of Autism/ASDs include:
  • no babbling or pointing by age 1
  • No single words by 16 months or two-word phrases by age 2
  • No response to name
  • Loss of language or social skills
  • poor eye contact
  • Excessive lining up of toys or objects
  • No smiling or social responsiveness

Scientists aren't sure what causes Autism/ASD but genetic and environmental factors are likely to play a role.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for Autism or its associated disorders (ASDs).Autism may only be treated by educational or behavioral interventions, medication and other therapies.

We at Master One Productions Ltd did not paint our nails blue but we salute Autism Awareness Month by lighting it up blue and by it we mean our logo.We do hope you learned something today and help to spread the awareness.Shine a light on Autism and light it up blue!

The year is fresh but the dream you have in your mind and heart is old news to you.You want a "buss" as a musician and  recording artiste. Here are five sure ways to kick-start your music career.

Be a Musician with a Plan

A musician or recording artiste these days more than ever is seen as an entrepreneur ,they are physically a brand and the primary marketers of such as brand. The recording artiste that wants to be successful has to set for himself goals,he needs a strategy to carry out his plan and the next couple steps he will make as a fresh face or name on the market.

Find your Team

Every great musician knows that he is as strong as his team is.There are some things you are well skilled at and others you are better off letting someone else manage for you. Collaborating with an artiste manager and skilled team in Marketing,PR and Advertising will push you in the right direction.Ensure that your team sees the same vision you do ,and is willing to take you there wholeheartedly.

Get in the Streets

In the fast pace world that is the music industry you have to be seen to be known .Who you know and who knows you spells success in the music industry.Ask for what you want ,take chances and never be afraid of hearing the word "No"; one person may not see your vision or agree with you but persistence is key.

Become Your Music.

We hear it all the time, practice makes perfect but really this cliche expression will be your bread and butter in the music industry. Will it be easy? No. Will it be a day in day out job? of course! But your fans will receive your best and undoubtedly come for more. Strive for consistency and producing music from your soul. You will be rewarded in time.

Choose a mentor

Find someone that can hone your musical talent to perfection and will teach you the lay of the land for a smoother journey.

Get It All Together

You are in a business, the music industry is a hard task master but you can conquer it.Seek the safety of a written contract that will protect your rights in the industry and garner advice before signing a contract.Communicate and operate professionally at all times, keep your deadlines and always keep track of your expenses.

The likes of international sensation Mariah Carey and the band behind the hit "Rude",MAGIC! along with the "Best Reggae Album" Grammy nominated Soja also join the interesting line-up that the festival promises this year.

According to Jazz organizers, “Jamaica Jazz and Blues in 2015 is all about connecting patrons to their inner fun self via musical performances that inspire, uplifts and puts people in a good mood. That’s why we thought to sprinkle a bit of MAGIC! on the Festival!"

The 2015 staging is headlined by international diva, Mariah Carey who performs on Friday, January 30. If you were ever a true Mariah fan ,you'd probably be screaming one of her chart topping songs trying in earnest to hit those ceiling high notes right until you get to the concert to chime in with the world renowned songstress.

Throughout the years of the festival's existence, its performances have been well received and the production proves to be of world class standing. Thus patrons expect more and more each year, after all it is said the Jamaican crowd is among one of the hardest to please. That said, Mariah should recover well from her last big gig,if she manages to sway the 2015 Jazz and Blues crowd (no hate,we love Mariah) :)

Seven time Grammy nominee ,Charlie Wilson along with international reggae band SOJA, and MAGIC! also appear on Saturday January 31.

For general admission tickets, the price is US$80 for Thursday and Saturday, whilst Friday night is US$120.
