3 Reasons You Need an Audio Engineer

"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain"
The above saying by Reggae Icon Bob Marley from his popular song "Trenchtown Rock" might be true , however you need a professional to help you make that music and take you to the level of Bob Marley.

Who is an Audio Engineer?
An Audio Engineer is someone who uses specialized machinery and equipment to record , mix or reproduce music , voices or sound effects. Below are 5 reasons why you need an Audio Engineer.

1. To Track your Vocals: You might think you have the best voice in the world ( along with your mom and dad) But there are certain key elements only an Audio Engineer will know. Maybe you are singing a certain key too high or low and the Engineer will know just how to manipulate his equipment to get your voice to the right level.

2.  To Ensure your tracks are properly mixed: Mixing Software are a dime a dozen , they can be downloaded from a variety of websites on the website , some even Free. These days everybody is a "professional mixer" . You want to ensure that you take those songs you spent hours recording to a professional to ensure they sound right and not "muddy" like you are constantly falling down a tunnel.

3. To build a sustainable Brand: Believe it or not , building a music career has a lot to do with "Brand Building". This also has a lot to do with the way your market perceives your Brand ( your voice/talent ) Let's take T-pain for example ... his Brand had a lot to do with the way an Audio Engineer manipulated his Voice with Auto Tunes. After this, Auto Tunes Skyrocketed and everybody's voices came out sounding amazing ( until Jay-Z declared a "death of Auto- Tunes) However , it all had to do with the professional skills of one person knowing how to manipulate that voice.

Master One Productions Ltd has a Studio in our facilities where we offer Studio Sessions, Voice Overs , Mixing & Mastering and so much more.
Studio sessions starts at $2,200 J.M.D per hour. Book 2 hours and get the 3rd Hour FREE

5 Things to Consider when booking a Studio

If you are an Artiste, upcoming or established you would have been in a Studio at least once or considered Booking Studio Time. If you are an upcoming artiste and is not quite sure about Booking a studio for your latest project, here are a few tips below:

1. Pick the right type of Studio that is beneficial to your Project: Not all Studios will fit all talents. It is important to note that not all Studios will do every genre of music. There are certain Studios in Jamaica that only do Reggae and Dancehall. Be sure to do your research and pick the one that suits your needs.

2. Meet the Engineer: Engineers are a dime a dozen! It is important to meet with the engineer to see if he/she is the right fit. Remember that you will be working with this person and it is important that you are comfortable as they will be tapping into your creativity and ability to produce quality music. Ensure that they are a reputable person and have been in the industry for some time and have experience working with different individuals.

3. Get the Best Price: Cheaper is not always better! Get a studio with a rate you are comfortable paying. It makes no sense booking a Studio with a cheap rate that has below than average equipment. The most important thing to think about is your career. Nobody wants to have a muddy track.

4. Come to your Session on Time: Time is something that can never be re-gained, if you are serious about your career you will always at least try to be on time. There is an old saying with something to the effect that "Artiste's are free spirits and will show up when they want" . My take... show up late and wait until the other person who came for their time is finished. Be respectful and show up for the time you booked. In the event that you will be late .. call in advance.

5. Do not Leave your Masters in the Studio: Do not depend on the Studio to store them for you once projects are completed. The Master is the “tracked out” Data files that can be further edited or remixed. The value of your project is usually in the physical ownership of your Masters.

These tips are sure to help your next Studio Session be smooth
